Happy Belated New Year, Everyone!

By belated, I mean one month off, but still. Roll with it.

January was an exciting month. I graduated with my master’s in creative writing from Wilkes University. I spent a week with my cohort and debated where my future should be – should I finish my book or pursue the masters in fine arts or go back into the IT world or…

There were a lot of “ors” in January, and even more “I don’t know’s.”

Most of the uncertainty spawned out of fear of what to do next. I had so many ideas floating around, but I didn’t know if I had it in me to tackle each one. All of these ideas came from tips provided during this past residency, and seeing people who made the writing life “work” for them made it feel all the more daunting. It felt as though if I didn’t heed their advice, then I wouldn’t see success. But with all of the advice given, where should I start?

That brings me to this next part:

New Blog!

I will post regular updates here on my website and on my Instagram (@suleymanwrites, follow if you aren’t already!). I’ll be looking at all the things I love and sharing my thoughts on them: horror movies and books, writing and the struggles that entail, new games of the digital and tabletop variety, and maybe even a few stories about the stray cats my wife wants us to adopt. Big maybe on the last one.

Either way, I’m excited to write stuff that isn’t my book, schoolwork, or short stories for submissions. I hope you’re excited to read them.
